The year 2021 was one for the books! Despite the challenges we faced in continuing to work through a pandemic, there have been a lot of good and exciting things to come out of this year.
Here’s a few highlights that we’d like to share with you.
At the beginning of 2021 we introduced our updated logo and simplified name. To remain relevant in a more digital age, we updated our website and, in the process, refreshed the look of our brand, and officially adopted our ‘nickname’ as our official name, TDC. The feedback and reactions that we’ve gotten from our new look have been overwhelmingly positive. A big thank you to our board & staff who collaborated with Boire Benner Group to make this happen.
As a result of the circumstances in 2020, which required more ‘remote’ work than in person work, TDC adapted to the use of video conferencing, especially regarding communicating with prospective tenants. This shift in communication method has opened up a whole new world of opportunities for us to connect with prospective businesses, we are excited to offer video calls and tours as an option to individuals who would otherwise have to travel to meet with us. Contact us today to set up your video call.
Shortly after we unveiled our new look our newest industrial building spanning 60,000SF concluded construction. This building was occupied just after construction finished and has been full since then. Our parks continue to have high occupancy rates and conversations continue with prospective and current tenants about business expansion.
This summer, we welcomed an intern from SUNY Plattsburgh into our office. Olivia worked with our staff and board of directors for nine weeks to support our marketing and rebranding efforts. One of her major contributions was the creation of a new blog series, Alphabet Soup, that aims to pull back the curtain on economic development. Stay tuned as we continue to unveil new topics each month. Want an intern of your own? Learn more.
This fall marks one year that we’ve been moved into our new office space on Industrial Boulevard. The new building has the necessary tools and technology to safely hold meetings in a virtual/ in person hybrid meeting format.
We would be remiss if we didn’t celebrate the success of our new grant program, introduced this year. Since early 2021, we have been accepting applications for a grant program focused on workforce development. Applicants could apply for funding to support up-training employees OR funding to create awareness around STEM careers. We were overwhelmed by the success of this program and look forward to continuing this program into 2022. Click here to learn more and apply.
Last, and certainly not least, we kicked off the last quarter of the year celebrating our 60 years of business in the community. TDC staff, board, and business partners gathered to reminisce about our long-standing operations in the community. We’re grateful to all the members of our board and staff, past and present, for the work that they did to get our business to where it is today.
It has been a busy year for TDC, which also means the time has gone by very quickly. We are optimistic that things will continue to get better by way of the pandemic.
